A New Initiative for Positive Change

At SANCHILD Foundation, we are proud to introduce the HARMONY Project in Schools, a transformative initiative dedicated to fostering mental well-being, community connection, and resilience among students and educators across Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Building on the successes of previous projects, this initiative aims to address the urgent mental health challenges faced by today’s youth while promoting a culture of understanding and support within school communities.

Why Focus on Mental Health?

Mental health is a critical component of overall well-being and success. Yet, many young people struggle with anxiety, depression, and emotional challenges that can impact their academic performance and personal lives.

Teachers, too, face the challenge of supporting students through these issues, often without adequate training or resources. The HARMONY Project in Schools seeks to bridge this gap by providing comprehensive support to both students and educators.

Project Goals and Objectives

The HARMONY Project in Schools is driven by four key objectives:

N

Promote Mental Well-Being: Through engaging workshops and training sessions, we aim to raise awareness about mental health and equip students and teachers with strategies to manage anxiety, depression, and other challenges.

N

Build Community and Understanding: By fostering connections among students, teachers, and community members, we aim to create an inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated, and mutual respect is nurtured.

N

Develop Resilience and Coping Skills: Our programs focus on building resilience and empowering participants with the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges effectively.

N

Create Lasting Impact: We aim to establish a foundation for sustainable change by engaging educators, social workers, and emerging leaders in the community, ensuring the ripple effects of this project extend far beyond the classroom.

How the Project Works

The HARMONY Project in Schools employs evidence-based interventions tailored to the local needs and priorities of participating communities. We work closely with local stakeholders to ensure our initiatives are relevant and impactful, engaging the right systems and partners to extend our reach and bring benefits to new settings.

The project includes interactive workshops for students focused on self-regulation and emotional recognition, as well as training sessions for teachers to equip them with the skills needed to support students effectively. By integrating practical examples and engaging activities, we create a dynamic learning environment that fosters growth and understanding.

Collaboration and Support

This project is made possible through the collaboration and dedication of six Harmony Project alumni, along with the support of educators, community leaders, and organizations committed to creating a brighter future for our youth. We are also grateful for the continued partnership with Rotary members and support of the ROtary Switzerland Liechtenstein Action Group for Peace whose unique strengths and resources are instrumental in bringing this project to life.
