CONNECTING THROUGH ART
The main focus of the workshop was to learn how to teach children to express oneself through storytelling and drawing techniques, while interchanging ideas and connecting by working together on art pieces.
This project is a result of the first “HARMONY Project: Train the Trainer” program, implemented in B&H in 2021.
We believe that positive changes in society are only possible if we first make positive changes within ourselves. By delivering our “Train the trainer” program across the region, both the philosophy and implementation of our mission will spread to communities who need it most.
About the project
Fourteen children (age 12) participated in this project, held on the 27th of November at Vlasic Mountain in B&H. The aim of the project was to create connection among children through arts.
The basis of this connection was selecting one of the leading global or local issues and presenting their solution using illustration. Along the way, they learned basic technique in comic arts, story telling and illustrations, from Milenko Bogdanovic, an experienced comic artist.
To tell their stories, children used their creativity to create their own heroes or to present the real heroes from their environment. A lot of them came up with unique and remarkable ideas on how to tackle very important issues.
This project was created in collaboration with another BH Harmony project “Learning and Rewarding Through Treasure Hunting” by Arnes Tufek.
The implementation of this project was supported by the Rotary International (Global Grant), and NGO SANCHILD.

HOW IS THE LOCAL HARMONY PROJECT CREATED?
HARMONY Project is a platform for education of professionals, designed with the focus on individual well-being, interpersonal connections, and trust-building.
One HARMONY Project starts as the “Train the Trainer” program, where participants (trainees) undergo 7 training modules carefully designed by the international coaches, and results in the Local HARMONY Projects. Each project is designed by one trainee and addresses one issue or an important topic in their local communities, and is implemented by employing their unique skill set, SANCHILD’s values and the HARMONY Project mission to inspire positive changes. Finally, the projects may continue to be improved and implemented in the future, to create “long-lasting ripple effects that positively transform societies”.
About HARMONY Trainee
“For me the art is life itself, the way to express myself, create, put myself out there in the world and to make myself vulnerable and open to feel everything for what it really is. It is way to connect and make an impact, or to even change someone’s life.”
Milenko Bogdanovic is a graphic designer, Illustrator, and comic book artist. He has over 5 years of experience and over 500 projects completed working with clients on a global level.
