Be in Harmony my friend was implemented from 1. to 6. August 2023 in Zenica and Jajce. The project was composed of two segments:

– 2 workshops with participants in Zenica, where project coordinator Ermina Švraka was preparing interesting materials and topics

– 2-day seminar at Pliva, Jace – together with the trainer and coordinator, participants had a chance to attend exciting workshops about stress, emotions, controlling fear, etc.

The project aimed to improve:

N

The mental health of young people,

N

Dealing with stressful situations, fears, and conflicts to develop better communication skills and more resilient young adults

Be in harmony my friend 2.0 is a project developed to help teenagers to understand, overcome and deal with the emotional rollercoaster of adolescence with the help of university students who already went through that stage of life; and to help university students to become more resilient young adults. During high school, students have to deal with stressful adolescence and go through an emotional rollercoaster. Working with university students who already have gone through that stage of their lives and probably have something useful to share could help teenagers to deal with those emotions in different and better ways.

On the other hand, this experience should help university students to take care of their mental health as well, especially before exams. They could learn how to calm down through breathing exercises, yoga, and mindfulness, but also by helping younger students they will become a better version of themselves which will improve their self esteem and help them become better people.

What makes this project interesting is that students are being able to learn from each others’ experiences which will probably have a stronger impact on all the participants than learning lessons in school, because they are close in age.

The whole process should help students to start taking care of themselves, to reduce stress by giving themselves time to process things, to embrace their feelings, even bad ones, in order to grow into emotional adults capable of dealing with their emotions and thoughts without being overwhelmed.
